Blockchance conference drawing decision-makers to Hamburg

Conference in Chamber of Commerce to highlight opportunities for commerce and society

The international BLOCKCHANCE Conference 2019 gets underway in the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce from August 16-17, 2019 under the theme “The Future of Social Economics”. Around 750 delegates and 50 keynote speakers from commerce, science, politics, media and the technology sector will focus on the economic and social opportunities of blockchain database technology. The event is being held under the auspices of Dr. Peter Tschentscher, Mayor of Hamburg.

Hamburg as a digital and innovative location

Commenting on the event, Tschentscher noted: “The Blockchance Conference 2019 in the Chamber of Commerce brings the international blockchain industry to Hamburg. I am delighted to be opening the event as patron to present our Hanseatic city to the world as a digital and innovation location.” Organised by Fabian Friedrich, initiator des Hanseatic Blockchain Institute, the conference is part of the series of events on distributed ledger technologies in Hamburg.

From conference to trade fair to networking

High on the agenda is security through the use of decentralised, globally networked database technology in IT and telecommunications, law and politics, trade, logistics and finance. Emphasis will also be on the use of blockchain technology in digitally networked communication, contract management, supply chains and in accounting for users. The two-day event will also feature several keynotes, presentations, panel discussions, workshops and creative sessions.

The conference is supported and sponsored by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, the Chamber of Commerce, the Hamburg@work digital cluster, IBM Germany, Osborne Clarke and Sopra Steria. The partners include the Blockchance Campus Hamburg, founded by Friedrich, and the Moinblockchain Conference Hamburg, the IT Executive Club Hamburg and the VDI Hamburg, the industrial association Finanzplatz Hamburg and the event and community network. Earlier this summer, the Bucerius Law School will host the Distribute Conference from June 27-28, 2019 as part of the Blockchain Summer with emphasis on blockchain technology and artificial intelligence.
