India's IndiGo signs for 300 A320neo aircraft

Record order for Airbus’ aircraft

India’s IndiGo has placed an order for 300 of Airbus’ A320neo Family aircraft marking one of the largest ever with a single airline, a press release said Tuesday (October 29, 2019). The order is for a mix of A320neo, A321neo and A321XLR bringing IndiGo’s total number of A320neo Family aircraft orders to 730. Most of these aircraft are produced in Hamburg. Although the purchase price has not been disclosed, the order is believed to be worth almost EUR 30 billion, according to media reports.

Ronojoy Dutta, CEO of IndiGo, said: “This order is an important milestone, as it reiterates our mission of strengthening air connectivity in India.” Guillaume Faury, CEO of Airbus, remarked: “We are delighted that IndiGo, one of our early launch customers for the A320neo, continues to build its future with Airbus, making IndiGo the world’s biggest customer for the A320neo Family.” Nearly 110 customers worldwide had placed more than 6,650 firm orders for the A320neo Family by late September 2019.
