The U.S. manufacturer Matternet and SwissDrones have signed contracts with Lufthansa Technik to raise the efficiency of their maintenance programmes, a press release said Thursday (April 25, 2019). Lufthansa Technik’s SafeDrone was founded in 2017 to reduce risks in unmanned aviation. Its SafeDrone Health offers a holistic diagnostic solution for flight-critical drone components. This makes technical fleet management safer and more efficient and slashes maintenance costs by over 50 per cent.
“We ensure that the best possible technology is used for each of our worldwide missions through our co-operation with Lufthansa Technik. This ensures that everyone involved is on the safe side,” said Andreas Raptopoulos, founder and CEO of Matternet. Lufthansa Technik’s cloud-based service allows the company to monitor the technical condition of the drones. Repairs can be carried out at the right time based on detailed analyses of malfunctions and recommended maintenance.
