Zalando to use e-transporters for deliveries

Zalando starts three-month test of electric vehicle deliveries

Zalando launched Wednesday (October 23, 2019) a three-month test phase of deliveries with 24 e-transporters by Mercedes, Nissan, Renault and a micro delivery vehicle by ARI Motors. The e-transporters sport Zalando branding and are being used for same-day delivery orders placed by Zalando plus clients. However, the company is using “Silent Upgrade” to selects other customers’ orders for same-day delivery. Parcels will be delivered evening between 7pm and 9pm.

Sustainable solution

“Zalando is working on sustainable solutions for logistics. The pilot project in Hamburg is another important step. We are very pleased to offer our customers in Hamburg climate-friendly deliveries,” said Christian Scheffler, Director of Zalando Premium Logistics. The 600 charging stations in central Hamburg render the city ideal for tests. Zalando is co-operating with various logistics partners, whose drivers are responsible for parcel delivery. Zalando retains responsibility for planning and providing the charging infrastructure.
